Recently, Li Auto released a safety evaluation video of the collision between the Li Auto and a truck. An 8-ton truck was hit by a more than 2-ton Li Li i8 SUV and flew into the air, and the truck's head was also hit and displaced. This incident aroused heated discussion among netizens.

Subsequently, Li Auto and China Automotive Research and Development Corporation made statements one after another, saying that the test was professional and fair and the results were authoritative. The tests used second-hand trucks. It was an unintentional move for Dongfeng Liuqi Chenglong brand to be accidentally involved in public opinion controversy.
However, the statements from Ideal and China Automotive Research and Development Corporation still did not provide a clear explanation of the two most controversial points in the test:1. Why did the cockpit of the Chenglong truck flip forward during the collision and whether the front of the truck was locked; 2. Why did the truck with an 8-ton counterweight get hit by an SUV of more than 2 tons and fly into the air on all four wheels?
In this regard, China Business News interviewed Zhang Yuan, director of the body development department of Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile R&D Institute, and other relevant persons.
An insider close to Chenglong Motors revealed that as of today, the company has not received detailed data from the crash test and cannot determine whether the buckles of the Chenglong trucks used in the test are buckled, which directly affects the problem of the front of the car falling.
What collided with the ideal i8 was a second-hand Chenglong M3, which used hydraulic locking. Zhang Yuan said,"As long as the hydraulic lock is indeed locked and the oil line is in the correct position (down), it will not unlock on its own."
A person in the automotive technical industry said: "We basically never had any failure of the locking mechanism during the crash test."
Moreover, the ideal i8 hits a truck traveling in the opposite direction at 40±2km/h at a speed of 60±2km/h, resulting in a relative speed of 100km/h.
But the ideal i8 SUV collision speed is 60 km/h, and the truck collision speed is 40km/h. Since collision energy is proportional to the square of velocity, this will directly affect the final collision result.
In addition, a relevant person close to Dongfeng Motor revealed that after the incident,Dongfeng immediately communicated with Ideal and China Automotive Research and Development Corporation, but at that time the two companies took a tough stance, believing that they had also been attacked by trolls and other trolls due to testing, and refused to delete the test video. After the conversation was fruitless, Chenglong issued an infringement statement.
