OLED panels are about to get faster, brighter, and weirder. From 720Hz refresh rates to 4,000-nit tandem screens to stretchable surfaces that simulate physical keys, LG’s latest prototypes herald features that could define the next wave of gaming, automotive, and commercial displays.

LG has confirmed that it will reveal a new 720Hz OLED display, among other products, at the upcoming K-Display 2025 show. Depending on when it launches, LG could be the first or second company to achieve this refresh rate using an OLED panel.
With a default refresh rate of 540Hz and a resolution of 1440p, this 27-inch screen is the cutting-edge benchmark for OLED technology. Optional settings increase the refresh rate to 720Hz while lowering the resolution to 1080p. The display uses LG’s fourth-generation OLED technology, which enables 99.5% DCI-P3 color reproduction and a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits.
Another manufacturer, SDC, released a monitor in June with similar resolution, refresh rate, brightness and color gamut. However, a flyer shared on Reddit remains the only evidence of the WOLED panel’s existence. LG is likely to be the first company to showcase a 720Hz OLED screen. Samsung released a 500Hz OLED display in May, and the 750Hz Koorui G7 TN panel holds the title of the world's fastest commercial display.
The ultra-high refresh rate significantly improves motion clarity in fast-moving PC games, which is critical for esports gaming. It also enables NVIDIA's multi-frame generation technology to overcome CPU limitations.
Meanwhile, LG will show off an 83-inch, 4,000-nit OLED screen at K-Display that uses its Primary RGB Tandem technology, which stacks red, green and blue light in separate layers. Additionally, LG will show off a 45-inch screen with its highest ever OLED resolution: 5120 x 2160 pixels.
Another demonstration will showcase several new panels for automotive infotainment. The most eye-catching one is a 57-inch pillar-mounted LCD screen that takes up the entire dashboard and displays driver- and passenger-side functions. A 36-inch OLED screen slides down from above the LCD to provide more information when needed, while an external 29-inch LCD screen can display ads and other information.
Finally, the company will demonstrate a Micro-LED display that can be stretched by up to 53%. Video demonstrations show the screen's ability to create customizable indentations that tactilely mimic physical buttons.
The K-Display 2025 Expo will be held for three days starting from August 7 at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul.
