NVIDIA had a CPU plan many years ago, but the mobile phone processor failed and the desktop processor disappeared. But now is the AI era, and NVIDIA's CPU dream may really come true. NVIDIA launched "Project DIGITS" at CES this year, known as the world's smallest AI supercomputer. It officially released this product at the GTC conference in March, called DGX Spark. It can be regarded as a mini desktop computer, weighing 1.2 kilograms and measuring only 150x150x50.5mm.

DGX Spark can be said to integrate NVIDIA's advanced technology. It is the desktop version of the previous super processor Grace Blackwell. The processor name is GB10.The CPU part is a 20-core ARM architecture, composed of 10 Cortex-X925 + 10 Cortex-A725, the GPU is a Blackwell architecture, the specifications are not mentioned, but the FP4 performance reaches 1PFLOPS, integrating the fifth-generation Tensor core and the fourth-generation RT light tracing core.

Others include 128GB LPDDR5X unified memory, 256bit width, support for 4TB SSD hard drives, and comprehensive scalability such as USB4, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and HDMI 2.1a.

DGX Spark will be jointly launched by partners, including ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI, etc. It was previously reported that it would be launched in July, but this is definitely out of the question.

The GB10 processor is actually cooperating with MediaTek, which also confirmed the progress of GB10 in its latest financial report meeting.Mass production will begin in the third quarter of this year.

However, the specific launch time has not been announced. Considering that the various processes from chip to finished product will take time, it is estimated that it will not be launched until the end of the year, and the delay will be at least half a year.

As NVIDIA's first desktop platform, DGX Spark has full specifications, but the price is not cheap.Previous pre-sale information from the manufacturer showed that the domestic price of the 128GB+1TB version starts at 30,000 yuan, and the 128GB+4TB version starts at 40,000 yuan., much more expensive than AMD’s desktop supercomputing platform, which costs 10,000 yuan.

Of course, the performance of DGX Spark still has great advantages, and the ecological support is more complete. Those developers and other people who need AI may not mind the price of 30,000 to 40,000 yuan. After all, deploying a 128GB AI platform by yourself is not cheap.
