Debian 13.0 “Trixie” has been officially released, becoming the latest two-year stable version of Debian GNU/Linux. Debian13 uses the Linux 6.12 LTS kernel, uses the GNOME 48 desktop by default, relies on the GCC 14.2 compiler by default, and includes a host of other package upgrades such as OpenJDK Java 21, Python 3.13, and many other updates.

Debian 13.0 is also Debian's first official support for RISC-V 64-bit, with support for HTTP boot via UEFI and U-Boot, 64-bit time_t ABI conversion completed, more work around reproducible builds, and many other enhancements. Debian 13.0 also brings some nice performance improvements to Debian 12.
