Anthropic recently announced the addition of the much-anticipated memory function to its Claude AI chatbot. This function is currently available in AI applications such as ChatGPT. Claude AI's support speed has lagged behind.

The memory function allows Claude AI to extract background information from chat records, such as the user's job, age, educational background, daily style, etc. This background information will be automatically included when talking to Claude AI, eliminating the need for users to describe their background information to Claude AI every time to get a better response.
Anthropic says the new feature will make Claude AI no longer forget your work. Claude can now remember your past conversations so you can seamlessly participate in projects, refer to previous discussions and build on ideas without starting from scratch every time.
Currently, Claude AI's memory function supports web version, desktop version and mobile devices, and can separate different projects and work areas to isolate different backgrounds. Users can switch between different backgrounds to separate work and life.
However, for the time being, this feature only supports some paid subscription users, including Claude Max subscription, Claude Team subscription and Claude Enterprise subscription. Claude Pro subscription is expected to provide support in the future, and free users may have to wait for a long time.
Users who meet the above subscription conditions can go to the settings option under their profile, and then turn on this feature in the search and reference chat options. After turning it on, Claude AI will automatically retrieve background information based on the chat history to provide better answers.
From a functional point of view, the memory function of Claude AI is actually different from that of ChatGPT. ChatGPT's memory function allows users to set background information in advance, while Claude AI extracts information from past chat records, so there should be some differences in actual use.
