Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro will start at $50 more than the iPhone 16 Pro, but will come with a minimum of 256GB of storage, double the base capacity of last year’s model, the news comes from Chinese tipster Setsuna DigitalPublished on Weiboinformation.

Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 for 128GB, with the 256GB version priced at $1,099. By comparison, the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,199 for 256GB. Both Pro models offer up to 1TB of storage.

Ahead of the release of the 2023 iPhone 15 series, there were rumors that the iPhone 15 Pro Max would drop the 128GB version and start at $1,199, up from the $1,099 of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This rumor turned out to be true, but only because Apple removed lower storage options, effectively raising the entry price.

Apple may be preparing similar tweaks for the iPhone 17 Pro. The new 256GB base model will likely cost $1,049, replacing the $999 128GB model. The move isn't a direct $50 price increase, but it's a better deal, with only a small price increase getting you more storage and simplifying the product line.

In July, Jefferies reported that Apple planned to raise prices across the entire iPhone 17 lineup by $50, citing rising component costs and China-related tariffs. Instant Digital expressed similar expectations in a previous article . The Wall Street Journal also reports that Apple is considering raising the prices of its upcoming iPhone 17 models.

We'll find out soon enough. Apple is rumored to release the iPhone 17 series on September 9, with a possible launch date of September 19.
