Rumors about the new TechWoven iPhone 17 case have intensified since the first videos of the accessory surfaced online. A new video posted by leaker Majin Bu on the X social network shows off a case apparently made for the rumored iPhone 17.
Previously, the tipster also shared pictures of these new cases. Now, we finally get to enjoy a short video of the case in action.
Bu claims that the new TechWoven cases "look great," however, it remains to be seen how they will pan out, especially if the cases will stand up to everyday wear and tear.
FineWoven replaces Apple's leather iPhone cases and was originally conceived as a durable and eco-friendly alternative. But consumers soon discovered that FineWoven’s material was not up to the task, and it was rumored that Apple was planning to return to leather.
Users of FineWoven cases have complained that they quickly rot and even fall apart—a huge steal considering its $59 price tag. Apple’s FineWoven products are listed as “frequently returned” on Amazon’s product page.
It’s not just leather cases that are being axed, Apple has decided to completely eliminate leather products, including premium watch straps.
It's unclear whether Bu is aware of these cases or is sharing images and videos produced by others. Images of the cases appear to have been posted to X on August 15 by an account named @smartechdaily.
The video also appears to be at a retail store. This is the unlikely location for Apple product leaks in August.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro phones at an online conference in September. The launch of new phone cases is a foregone conclusion, and now it looks like the possibility of improved materials is greater than ever.
