On Kobe’s 47th birthday,Warner Bros. has been revealed to be producing a Kobe Bryant biopic, tentatively titled "With the 8th Pick."The film has been described as a cross between The Social Network, AirPods, and Moneyball, with a thriller twist.

The plot focuses on the story behind Kobe Bryant joining the NBA and joining the Los Angeles Lakers:
In the famous 1996 NBA draft, as a high school player, he was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick. After that, the Lakers sent away center Vlade Divac in his prime and traded him to Kobe.
The story of this film unfolds from the perspective of the New Jersey Nets, manager John Nash and new coach John Calipari at that time. The Nets held the No. 8 pick. Calipari wanted to get Kobe, but the Nets were not successful at the time. Kobe also cared about the Lakers, and he had a contract with Adidas, so it would be more suitable for him to go to the Lakers.
