According to domestic media reports, Wuhan Railway officials recently issued a statement stating that at 13:40 on December 5, train 20082, fully loaded with 100 containers and a total of 2,150 tons of Danjiang water, departed from Pingding Shandong Station on time and headed for Ordos, Inner Mongolia.This is the first time that high-quality natural Danjiang water has been transported to the northwest pastoral (border) area via railway using containers and nylon flexitanks.

According to reports, Ordos, Inner Mongolia is located in the northwest region of my country, where water resources are scarce. After arriving locally, this batch of drinking water will be sent to drinking water production plants for bottling and canning to supply local water needs.

The Danjiangkou Reservoir is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia. The water is taken from the water intake of the "South-to-North Water Diversion" trunk channel passing through Pingdingshan City.

After the high-quality water from the Danjiangkou Reservoir is loaded into flexitanks, it is transported by railway container trains via the Jiaoliu Line and Longhai Line, and enters the Haoji Railway, my country's "Northern Coal Transport to the South" corridor, in Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, and finally arrives in Ordos, Inner Mongolia.

In addition, the planned capacity of water transport trains in the near future is 800,000 tons.Large-scale water transportation through railway containers supplements the "South-to-North Water Diversion" project.It can effectively alleviate the water supply shortage in the northwest region and build a new "South-to-North Water Diversion" channel.

In this regard, some people in the industry said that the cost and sales issues that many people are worried about are no longer problems in this innovative model.

The core company of this industrial chain is China Pingmei Shenma Group, which takes advantage of the water resources of the Danjiangkou Reservoir to build a 10 million tons/year water intake, transportation, water production and sales system.

The water transport train we boarded was the Haoji Railway’s 100-million-ton return air transport capacity (on the North Coal and South Transport Channel, most of the water transport trains returning to the north were empty).Transport water to water-scarce cities along the route such as Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia.

They also developed nylon open-top container reusable flexitanks, designed a fully automatic container loading and unloading system, and connected with government departments and consumer markets in major northwest cities in advance.

This move not only realizes the rational allocation of resources for the "south-to-north water transmission", but also revitalizes the railway's excess transport capacity, allowing the railway to increase additional revenue, achieving multiple benefits with one stone.
