As the world's most valuable company, NVIDIA (NVIDIA) showed in its financial report released on Wednesday that its revenue continued to grow in the quarter, with total revenue reaching $46.7 billion, an increase of 56% from the same period last year. This growth was mainly driven by the artificial intelligence (AI)-led data center business, which also saw revenue growth of 56% year-on-year.

NVIDIA's net profit also increased significantly compared with last year. The company's second-quarter net profit was $26.4 billion, a 59% surge from the same period last year, the financial report showed.
Overall, Nvidia's data center business revenue reached $41.1 billion in the quarter, a figure that shows that AI companies' demand for cutting-edge graphics processing units (GPUs) continues to grow. Among them, Nvidia’s most advanced new generation chip “Blackwell” contributed US$27 billion in revenue.
"Blackwell is the AI platform that the world has been waiting for," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a statement after the earnings release. "The AI race is in full swing, and Blackwell is the core platform for this race."
Nvidia specifically mentioned its role in the launch of OpenAI's open source model gpt-oss earlier this month, in which "a single NVIDIA Blackwell GB200 NVL72 rack-mounted system can process 1.5 million tokens per second."
The financial report also revealed the continued challenges Nvidia faces in chip sales in the mainland Chinese market. The financial report shows that in the past quarter, the H20 chips for the mainland Chinese market did not achieve any sales to mainland Chinese customers; however, Nvidia sold H20 chips worth $650 million to another customer.
The U.S. has long restricted the sale of advanced GPUs, but under the Trump administration Nvidia is currently allowed to sell chips as long as it pays a 15% export tax to the U.S. Treasury.
Nvidia said it expects third-quarter revenue of $54 billion. The company noted that its third-quarter revenue guidance, which could fluctuate up to 2%, does not include any H20 chip shipments to the mainland Chinese market.
