Apple is planning new iPad Air, iPad Pro and M3 MacBook Air models in preparation for spring releases to reverse declining Mac and iPad sales. According to people familiar with the matter, in order to reverse the declining trend of Mac and iPad sales, Apple is preparing to launch several new models and upgraded versions early next year, including new versions of iPad Air, iPad Pro and MacBook Air.
The new iPad Air will be available in two sizes for the first time, and the iPad Pro will use an OLED screen. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air will be equipped with a faster M3 processor.
Macs and iPads together account for about 15% of Apple's revenue, and the decline in consumer technology spending has hit consumption of these products particularly hard. The lack of new models has exacerbated the decline in iPad sales, and 2023 will be the first calendar year in the product's history without a new version being released. Apple has released several Mac computers in the past year, but the computer market is currently facing a wider decline in consumption. Mac sales fell 34% last quarter to $7.61 billion, while iPad revenue fell 10% to $6.44 billion.
