Microsoft recently released a new preview version of Windows 11.Two new keyboard shortcuts have been introduced to make it easier to enter hyphens and dashes.Starting with build 26200.5761 in the Development Channel and 26120.5770 in the Beta Channel of Windows 11 version 25H2,Users can enter a hyphen (en dash) with Win + minus sign (-) and an em dash (em dash) with Win + Shift + minus sign (-):

Win + minus sign (-) to enter a hyphen (en dash, –), mainly used to connect numbers, etc.;

Win + Shift + minus sign (-) to enter em dash (-), a dash commonly used in English.

Previously, users needed to use Alt + 0151 to enter a dash on Windows, which was inconvenient, especially for users without a numeric keyboard or laptop.

While PowerToys can make things easier, most users would prefer an easier way to insert these symbols, and Microsoft has finally solved this problem.

Note, however, that if Magnifier is running, WIN + Minus (-) will still zoom in instead of inserting a dash.

In addition to new keyboard shortcuts, the latest Windows 11 development and beta versions include many other improvements, such as a cross-device experience for Android users, improvements to Click to Do functionality, redesigned battery icons, and the ability to pin apps to a shared user interface.
