Gigabyte quietly launches a memory expansion card "AI TOP CXL R5X4", you can easily expand the memory capacity supported by the motherboard, but ordinary motherboards cannot use it.

Gigabyte clear,It only supports two motherboards, one is the TRX 50 AI TOP adapted to the AMD Threadripper 7000/9000 series, and the other is the W790 AI TOP adapted to the Intel Xeon W-2400/3400 series.
It can be seen from the model naming that they are motherboards specially designed for AI, or AI training to be exact.
Gigabyte also recommends that before purchasing an expansion card, it is best to consult Gigabyte to confirm that it can be used.

This expansion card is 25.4 cm long and 12 cm high. It uses PCIe 5.0 x16 system interface, supports CXL 1.1/2.0, and comes with an active fan and EXT12V power supply interface.
There are four DDR5 RDIMM memory slots on it, supporting ECC, with a maximum single capacity of 128GB and a maximum total capacity of 512GB.
Gigabyte said that the AI TOP motherboard, combined with this memory expansion card, can run large models with up to 236 billion parameters.
