Google launched AI Mode in more than 180 countries around the world last month, but it was only open to English users at the time. Recently, Google announced that this feature has added support for five new languages, including Hindi, Japanese, Indonesian, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese, which means that non-English users can also experience the powerful generative AI search function.

Google said that the AI model uses the advanced multi-modal and reasoning capabilities of the Gemini 2.5 model to better understand the nuances of languages in different regions. This expansion is of great significance. The number of speakers of Hindi alone (including native and second language) exceeds 609 million, ranking third among the most commonly used languages in the world, second only to English and Mandarin. Indonesian (252.4 million) and Japanese (125.6 million) also ranked among the top 20.
AI mode was first launched earlier this year as an upgraded version of AI Overviews, which can automatically generate comprehensive summaries for search users. This mode uses "query dispersion" technology to search multiple subtopics and data sources for a question and then integrate it into a detailed answer.
In the following months, Google made several updates to the AI model: it integrated a customized version of Gemini 2.5, and introduced the "Search Live" option, allowing users to have real-time interactive conversations with AI. At the same time, it also enhances data visualization and charting functions in finance and other fields, and supports intelligent identification through real-time camera video streams to optimize search results.
It is worth noting that Google also introduced smarter agents and personalization features for the AI mode when the new Pixel 10 series was released last month. For example, users can directly ask AI to recommend restaurants and assist with reservations based on their time, location and number of diners. Google's global promotion of AI mode multi-language support is expected to allow more users to enjoy AI-driven search and information integration experiences.
