Mozilla has announced that the Firefox browser will soon launch a new "Shake to Summary" feature on iPhone devices. Users simply shake their phones to get an AI-generated summary of the current web page's content. This feature will be officially launched this week and will rely on Apple's local AI model for summary generation when iPhone 15 Pro and newer models are equipped with iOS 26 system.

For devices with older iOS versions, Mozilla will use its own cloud-based AI technology to generate a summary of the web page and insert it at the top of the current browsing page. In addition to shaking the phone, users can also select the page summary function by clicking the "lightning" icon in the address bar or through the "three dots" in the bottom menu.

Mozilla said that users can turn off this feature at any time in settings to prevent it from being accidentally triggered. It’s worth noting that “Shake to summarize” currently only works on web pages with less than 5,000 words of text.

With the release of this feature, Firefox has become one of the first mainstream third-party applications to be deeply integrated with Apple's new generation of smart systems.

More information about Apple Intelligence and new iPhone models may be announced at today’s iPhone new product launch event. In the initial launch phase, this feature is only available in the US and English versions. In the future, Mozilla plans to promote it to the global market and support Android devices.
