Apple announced tonight that the latest Live Translation feature will support AirPods Pro 2 and the upcoming AirPods 4 headphones. This function relies on the H2 chip and the iPhone equipped with Apple Intelligence, which means that in addition to the above-mentioned headphones, users also need to be equipped with an iPhone device that can run Apple Intelligence and be upgraded to iOS 26, which is actually the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models.

Live Translation can be activated with a simple gesture - the user pinches the handles of both earphones at the same time to activate. When the system detects a foreign language, it will automatically translate it to help users achieve real-time cross-language communication.

The initially supported languages for this feature include English (US, UK), French (France only, not available in the EU), Spanish (Spain only, not available in the EU), German and Brazilian Portuguese.

iOS 26 will be officially launched to the public on September 15th. AirPods Pro 3 will natively support this feature, and the aforementioned old headphones will also be supported through software upgrades during the same period.
