Apple said its smartwatch high blood pressure detection system has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and will be launched next week. The feature will be available in 150 countries and regions and will use data from the Apple Watch's optical heart rate sensor to analyze how a user's blood vessels respond to their heartbeat over a 30-day period.

The feature will be available on Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 models and was developed through advanced machine learning and training data collected from more than 100,000 participants across several studies.
