Pre-orders for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air started on Friday in the United States and many other countries. For users who have not yet placed an order, the expected delivery date of the iPhone 17 Pro Max has been quickly postponed to the launch date of Friday, September 19, and other new models have also begun to be shipped.

As of shortly after 11:30 a.m. PT today, select iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone Air units in the U.S. Apple online store will be shipping 1-3 weeks behind their release dates, with shipments expected to be pushed back to late September to mid-October. However, as of this writing, some configurations still have the option for home delivery or pickup at select Apple Stores on launch day.

We don't yet know Apple's supply of each of the new iPhones, but if expected delivery delays are broadly consistent with strong demand, orange for the Pro models and white for the iPhone Air will be particularly popular color options so far. For the regular iPhone 17, sage green and black are in higher demand.

On a related note, there's good news for customers who were pre-ordering as soon as possible on Friday, as some customers who originally received delivery estimates for September 25th are now finding their orders have been moved forward to September 19th.
