WindowsInsiderProgram has been around for many years. During this period, Microsoft also needed to test the WindowsServer version for servers, so Microsoft would regularly announce the WindowsServervNEXT version on TechNet and provide ISO image files. Since IT administrators can only overwrite upgrades or installations through ISO images, it is actually very inconvenient. However, after all, the Windows team now has a new boss, so WindowsServerInsiderProgram is coming too.
According to Microsoft's official blog, starting from the beginning of next year, IT administrators using the Windows Server vNEXT version can obtain the new version directly from Windows Update.
At that time, the WindowsInsiderProgram option will also appear in WindowsServer. IT administrators need to join the program, just like the WindowsInsider program. After joining, subsequent systems can be updated directly through WindowsUpdate without having to download a new ISO image file every time.
However, it is somewhat different from the regular preview plan. First of all, the Windows Server version is not updated every week, but is generally updated every two weeks. Secondly, Microsoft will only provide updates for the GUI version, and will not provide updates for the Windows Server version without GUI.
Microsoft will launch the plan after the Christmas holiday this year, that is, by January 2024, enterprise IT administrators can happily use the Windows Server Insider version on test machines.
