A China Eastern Airlines flight suffered a mechanical failure, and some netizens filmed the emergency draining of fuel at high altitude. At noon on December 9, China Eastern Airlines flight MU533 from Shanghai to London was diverted to Pudong Airport. Passengers filmed a scene suspected of dumping fuel in the air to reduce weight.The flight previously took off from Pudong T1 Airport at 9:39 a.m. and was scheduled to land in London at 14:07 local time. It has now diverted to Shanghai Pudong at 11:43.

In response, customer service said that due to mechanical failure, the aircraft had returned and was being repaired.

Prior to this, at 10 a.m. on December 3, an Airbus 330-343 of China Eastern Airlines made an emergency landing at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport due to a suspected engine fire. The aircraft was scheduled to fly from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hong Kong.

Judging from the feedback from passengers at the time, the aircraft was shaking significantly, and a strong shaking sound could be heard in the cabin.
