According to comprehensive US media reports, on the 9th local time, Liz Magill, the president of the University of Pennsylvania, announced her resignation. Reports pointed out that Magill was the first university president in the United States to resign due to "anti-Semitic controversy." Previously, Magill and several other presidents of Ivy League universities in the United States were deeply involved in the "anti-Semitic" controversy.

According to the US "Capitol Hill" report, at a recent congressional hearing, Congresswoman Elsie Stefanik repeatedly asked the presidents of Harvard University, MIT and the University of Pennsylvania whether "calling for the genocide of Jews" violated the campus code of conduct. The three presidents failed to give a clear response.

It was also reported that 74 members of Congress, mainly Republicans, recently signed a letter urging the three universities to fire their presidents for failing to address anti-Semitism on campus.

According to the New York Times, hours after Magill announced his resignation as president of the University of Pennsylvania, Scott Bok, chairman of the school’s board of trustees, also announced his resignation later that day.
