Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Hynix Corp. are stepping up efforts to recruit talent needed for next-generation technology, according to industry sources. The current artificial intelligence boom and a potential semiconductor industry “super cycle” are driving this demand.

According to relevant sources, SK Hynix has begun accepting applications from experienced employees this week, recruiting a total of 10 positions, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM) circuit design and solution design positions.

The leading chipmaker has been focusing on this group of design experts, as combining expertise in memory and system semiconductors to provide optimized solutions for artificial intelligence servers, autonomous driving, robotics and other fields has become a key competitive advantage in the current market environment.

In addition, SK hynix is recruiting new employees for hundreds of positions covering design, equipment, research and development, and mass production technology.

Samsung Electronics is also actively recruiting fresh graduates. Applicants with outstanding performance are expected to join the company in the first half of next year and work in areas such as process development and circuit design.

The hiring spree comes as the two tech giants prepare for a possible semiconductor "supercycle." By then, the demand for chips will be very strong and prices will remain high.

Experts say demand for high-performance semiconductors, including HBM-type semiconductors, has grown significantly in the era of artificial intelligence recently, a trend expected to continue to drive industry growth over the next two to three years.

An industry source said: "By recruiting professionals in the field of artificial intelligence semiconductors, we aim to establish technology leadership and enhance customized design capabilities."
