Today, China Unicom’s public account issued an article saying that recently,China Unicom has officially received approval to conduct commercial trials of eSIM mobile phone operation services. This important breakthrough marks a milestone in China Unicom's decade-long technological accumulation and practical exploration in the eSIM field.

It is understood that China Unicom started technology research and development in 2015, launched the eSIM wearable business in China in 2018, and then successively obtained business licenses for the Internet of Things, notebooks and tablets.
China Unicom has adapted to a total of 75 terminal models, covering various scenarios such as consumer electronics, industrial interconnection, and smart travel, and has served millions of users.
The approval of the eSIM mobile phone business marks China Unicom's realization of a closed-loop eSIM full-scenario business.
China Unicom said that eSIM technology brings users a convenient experience of "card-free activation, multi-device collaboration, and seamless global roaming" with its advantages of high security, stability and flexible operator switching.
It is reported that,China Unicom also announced today that the eSIM reservation channel is officially open, which means that domestic eSIM will soon be opened, and the launch of the Chinese version of iPhone Air is one step closer.
iPhone Air is Apple’s latest thin and light flagship, with a thickness of only 5.6mm. In order to achieve an ultra-thin and light design, Apple directly canceled the physical SIM card slot and adopted eSIM globally.
