Today, China National Nuclear Corporation announced that the world’s first onshore commercial modular small reactor——The cold-state functional test of the primary circuit of the "Linglong 1" multi-purpose modular small reactor technology demonstration project in Changjiang, Hainan of China National Nuclear Corporation was a complete success. It is understood that "Linglong 1" is located in Changjiang, Hainan, and is the world's first land-based commercial modular small reactor to pass the International Atomic Energy Agency's safety review.

The cold function test completed today is a large-scale comprehensive special commissioning test of a nuclear power plant. This means that the pressure boundary of the primary circuit of the unit is complete and well sealed, and the installation quality of relevant equipment and pipelines has been tested to ensure subsequent safe and stable operation.

In the future, "Linglong No. 1" will also carry out thermal performance tests, critical tests and other test work as planned.

It is understood that the construction of "Linglong One" started at Hainan Nuclear Power Plant on July 13, 2021.

After it is completed and put into operation,It is estimated that the annual power generation can reach 1 billion kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity needs of 526,000 households in Hainan and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 880,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to planting 7.5 million trees a year.
