Samsung Display has undergone an organizational shakeup that will help the Apple screen supplier deliver foldable displays not just for iPhones but also for MacBook Pros. Apple has been rumored for some time to be working on a so-called "iPhone foldable," a smartphone with a hinged display that folds into half its size. In South Korea, one of Apple's display partners appears to be preparing orders.

Samsung has made an organizational restructuring that mainly affects a team responsible for supplying Apple, TheElec reported on Monday. The team's adjustments are said to be an effort to focus on improving its capabilities, especially in light of Apple's foldable products.

The small and medium-sized display division is responsible for the development of smartphone OLEDs and foldable panels, including flexible screens. Now, the division is being beefed up to focus more on making foldable devices mainstream.

Samsung Display and fellow supply chain member LG Display are already developing panels for Apple's future foldable products. According to reports, these include a product with a size of 20.25 inches.

While the iPhone with a flexible display will get the most public attention, it's not the only product that might use similar technology.

Rumors in early 2023 suggested that Apple had changed its plans for the first foldable MacBook Pro, which is expected to be released in 2025. Instead of a typical laptop-style keyboard and trackpad, it will be a full-screen device like an iPad, but with a touchscreen keyboard for input.
