Samsung is hosting a Galaxy event tomorrow, where the company will officially unveil its highly anticipated "Project Moohan" mixed reality headset, which is positioned as a serious competitor to the Apple Vision Pro. Samsung said it is ushering in a new era with its upcoming "AI native devices."
Samsung demonstrated the Project Moohan AR/VR headset in early January this year, which looked very similar to the Vision Pro. The front display looks like a pair of ski goggles, with a soft fabric seal that fits your face, and a single, thickened headband with a knob at the rear for easy adjustment. Like the Vision Pro, Samsung's new headset comes with an external battery that needs to be carried around.
Details about Project Moohan such as weight, display resolution and price have not yet been announced, but Samsung describes it as "lightweight" and "ergonomically optimized", emphasizing wearing comfort.
This headset will run the Android XR operating system, jointly created by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, and is specially designed for extended reality helmets and smart glasses. Samsung said that Android XR is Google’s response to visionOS.

With Android
The Samsung headset’s AI capabilities will go beyond Vision Pro, with support for Gemini, which can be used to access device controls and provide intelligent insights into what users see while wearing it. Users can also watch YouTube on a "virtual big screen," use Google Maps for immersive navigation, operate multiple virtual screens in the Chrome browser for multitasking, and Google Photos will also support 3D images.
Samsung plans to hold a new product launch event tomorrow night, and the event will officially start at 10 pm Eastern Time (7 pm Pacific Time).
