Microsoft is seriously promoting the "AI native" positioning of Windows 11. In recent years, the Copilot Assistant has been present in every corner of Windows 11, including right-click menus, Paint, Notepad and other applications, and has even been extended to Word and PowerPoint, with plans to further integrate it into the taskbar. However, Microsoft's new vision goes far beyond that - company executives have officially confirmed that Windows 11 will be upgraded to an "AI native" operating system.

The so-called "AI native" operating system theoretically means that AI functions are deeply embedded in the system without the need for cloud or simulation support. Models, contexts and intentions become core system features. This is highly consistent with Microsoft’s development direction for Windows 11.
Stefan Kinnestrand, corporate vice president of Microsoft, said that "Windows is leading the transformation of AI native" and pointed out that Windows 11 is undergoing architectural upgrades for intelligent working methods, but did not explain in detail how Microsoft will achieve complete AI agent integration. Microsoft further mentioned that as an AI-first operating system, Windows 11 will have higher security and be optimized for intelligent agents. "Windows is evolving into an AI-native platform: secure, scalable, and designed for intelligent work," Stefan emphasized.

Microsoft has clearly positioned Windows 11 as "AI native," which means that AI will no longer be just an additional feature, but will become an indispensable core component of the operating system, similar to the start menu, taskbar, or mouse and keyboard. Without these, can you still use Windows?
In terms of hardware, Microsoft said Copilot+ PC is the carrier of this strategy, while AI capabilities belong to the software level. The official also announced that "breakthrough performance and native AI experience" will be launched on Windows 11, but only for Copilot+ PC devices.
Microsoft has not yet announced the specific form of Windows in the "intelligent agent" era, but it has proposed the concept of "intelligent agent". For example, automatically browsing the web like Perplexity Comet, Windows systems may be able to achieve a similar experience in the future.
For example, a user needs to clean data in Excel and generate charts using Python, then convert it into a Word document and then create it into PowerPoint. Although the existing Copilot can assist, most operations still need to be completed manually. A true AI agent can automate the entire process, understand context and access your personal files.
Microsoft finally said: "The next chapter of the integration of Windows and AI is about to begin, and it is specially built for business needs."
