Today (October 24) AMD announced that its most powerful workstation-class GPU based on RDNA 4 architecture, Radeon AI Pro R9700, will be available for retail sale on October 27. at the same timeAfter about five months of waiting, AMD has finally confirmed the official suggested retail price: US$1,299 (approximately 9,255 yuan), which is more than double the price of the flagship gaming card RX 9070 XT.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 is equipped with NAVI 48 core based on RDNA 4 architecture, enabling all 4096 stream processors and 128 raster units. The boost frequency and game frequency are 2920MHz and 2350MHz respectively.

As a workstation graphics card designed for intensive AI workloads, the biggest difference between the R9700 and game cards is that the video memory capacity is doubled.

The card is equipped with 32GB GDDR6 video memory with 256-bit video memory width, which makes the R9700 one of the cheapest 32GB workstation GPUs on the market.

AMD said that Radeon AI Pro R9700 is designed to allow medium to large AI models to run directly on local workstations:

Combined with AMD ROCm support, the card can accelerate large language models, diffusion models and other compute-intensive workflows, bringing data center-level efficiency to the desktop."

In terms of real-world performance, AMD claims the R9700 is twice as fast as its predecessor, the W7800, on the DeepSeek R1 benchmark.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 also has multi-GPU expansion capabilities. Through AMD ROCm software, users can achieve multi-card collaborative work on local workstations to accelerate high-throughput AI workloads.

This graphics card will be sold through AMD's board partners, and there will be no public version design for sale directly.
