Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 is expected to have 50% more memory than its predecessor. According to Korean media "The Bell", Apple is promoting the unified memory configuration of the entire series of new iPhones and plans to increase the RAM of all models to at least 12GB.

Currently, Apple’s latest iPhone lineup, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, already use 12GB of memory, an increase of 4GB compared to the previous generation. This upgrade is mainly to meet the needs of device-side artificial intelligence processing. The standard version of iPhone 17 is still equipped with 8GB of memory, but this situation is expected to change after the iPhone 18 is launched.
According to sources, Apple has proposed to its main memory chip supplier Samsung to expand the purchase of LPDDR5X chips. Samsung's high-performance LPDDR5X memory launched from 2024 will only be available in 12GB and 16GB versions, so the possibility of future iPhone standard models continuing to use 8GB memory is extremely low. At the same time, Apple is still negotiating with SK Hynix and Micron to increase mobile phone DRAM supply channels.
iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable versions are expected to be released in the fall of 2026, while iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are scheduled to debut in the first half of 2027.
