Foxconn's factory in Hyderabad, India, is preparing to double its monthly production of AirPods and increase the number of employees from about 2,000 to 5,000 in the next six to eight months, a move aimed at accelerating Apple's accessory production in India.
According to the "India Economic Times", the factory's current production capacity exceeds 100,000 units per month. It is expected to increase the production capacity to 200,000 units per month by upgrading five existing assembly lines and introducing additional equipment from the Vietnam factory. The base started producing AirPods in April this year, and the relevant machinery and tools have been transferred to the local area.

Currently, the factory’s main assembly products include AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3 models. This production expansion is also part of Apple's global strategic adjustment. Apple is gradually distributing production to different countries through supply chain diversification. Previously, in July, Indian factories faced temporary production bottlenecks due to China's tightening of exports of rare earth metals, resulting in a shortage of dysprosium needed to produce AirPods.
Apple's continued expansion of its manufacturing operations in India shows that its supply chain strategy is entering a new stage, significantly enhancing India's position in the global Apple industry chain.
