According to a report from "Ping An Lhasa", a recent telecom fraud case caused a woman to lose 240,000 in deposits by pretending to be a customer service member of the platform. It started with a call from someone claiming to be “Douyin customer service”. The other party informed Ms. Zhang that the "free period of Douyin Live Broadcast" she had previously opened has ended. If she continues to use it, she will need to pay 1,000 yuan per year.

In order to dispel Ms. Zhang's doubts, the other party also guided her to search for an "electronic contract" on Douyin, which seemed to have complete procedures.

When Ms. Zhang made it clear that she "wanted to cancel the service," the scam officially started: the other party used "operational needs" as an excuse to cancel the service. He asked her to download an app called "Douyin Service Assistant" and then lied that "cancellation requires turning off password-free payment first" (the purpose was to peek at the password).

Later, on the grounds of "system verification",Ms. Zhang was asked to cooperate with face verification and claimed that “the phone screen will go black for 1-2 minutes during the process, which is normal.”

After Ms. Zhang operated as required, her phone returned to normal, but the "Douyin Service Assistant" App disappeared inexplicably. At this time, she was still unaware of the abnormality. It was not until she received a warning call from the anti-fraud center that she hurriedly checked her account.

It was found that all the three-year time deposits worth RMB 240,000 in his name had been converted into current deposits and transferred away.

The police remind that any platform customer service will not ask for downloading unofficial apps, ask for passwords, or guide face verification. In such cases, you must directly call the platform’s official customer service number to verify, or call 110 for consultation. Do not trust unknown calls!
