After months of rumors and leaks, Microsoft has finally announced that it will be remaking the original Halo game. This work, called "Halo: Campaign Evolved", is a complete remake of the 2001 classic game "Halo: Combat Evolved" and will be available on Xbox Series, PC and PlayStation.

"Halo: Campaign Evolved" is built using Unreal Engine 5, which has undergone a complete visual innovation of the levels and cutscenes in the game.

The developers explained that while retaining the original nostalgia and core storyline, they made subtle adjustments to some levels to enhance the experience.

The remastered campaign will include three new missions that serve as mini-prequels to the main story, and while details are scant, these missions will include "all-new environments, characters, and enemies."

In order to enrich the combat experience, the remake adds nine new weapons from other works in the series, including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle and Needle Rifle that players love.

In addition, the mechanism of hijacking vehicles has been added, and "Sprinting" will also appear as an optional additional feature.

Xbox Studios executive producer Damon Conn said:"We're incredibly excited to bring Halo to players who may not have had the chance to play it in the past. We're not trying to rewrite the legacy of Halo, we're trying to immerse you in it like never before."

As its name suggests, Halo: Campaign Evolved does not include a player versus player (PvP) mode, but cooperative play is retained: it will be available in a console-exclusive two-player split-screen format, as well as up to four-player online co-op across all platforms.

The remake is expected to be released in 2026, but Halo Studios has not yet given an exact date.
