With the popularity of AI, the requirements for storage chips are also increasing. HBM memory is a must, and large-capacity SSD hard drives are also indispensable. SK Hynix is already developing a new PB-level SSD hard drive. Korean media reported that Chun Sung Kim, head of eSSD product development at SK Hynix, revealed their next-generation NAND product strategy at the previous OCP 2025 conference, and will launch a new AIN (AI-NAND) series product line for the AI era.
The AIN product line has multiple series, each optimized for performance, bandwidth and density. Among them, the AIN P series focuses on performance, which can maximize the operational delay between storage and AI, and significantly improve processing speed and energy efficiency.SK Hynix is designing a new flash memory and main control, and is expected to release samples by the end of 2026.
The AIN B series focuses on high bandwidth, and SK Hynix will use HBF technology to vertically stack multiple flash memories to expand bandwidth.
The AIN D series focuses on density, that is, increasing capacity, and aims to store massive data at low cost and low power consumption. The company's goal is to increase the SSD capacity of QLC flash memory from TB to PB level,Achieve a balance between the speed of SSD and the cost of HDD.
Among the above three series of SSDs, the most attractive one for ordinary players is of course the AI D series. The PB level capacity means more than 1000TB, which is more than 1000 times that of the current SSD. In the future, the problem of insufficient SSD will no longer be considered, and the writing life is naturally no longer a problem. Such a capacity will not die even if you write casually.
