On October 28, Apple CEO Tim Cook, as a member of U.S. President Donald Trump’s entourage, attended an event in Tokyo, Japan, aimed at promoting Japanese investment in the United States.

Cook has met with President Trump several times in recent years to work on behalf of Apple. This meeting is a new contact between the two people recently and is part of a larger event aimed at attracting more Japanese capital flows to the United States.

According to the "Nikkei" report, at the dinner held at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, President Trump had dinner with many business leaders from the United States and Japan. In addition to Tim Cook, guests from the United States also included OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, Salesforce President Marc Benioff and others. Representatives from the Japanese business community include SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son, Toyota executive Taro Shimada, Honda President Toshihiro Sanbe, and others.

According to Bloomberg, the dinner was mainly used to promote Japanese investment in the United States. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick announced a number of potential investment projects at the meeting. These projects are planned to total approximately US$490 billion. Although some are still in the preliminary stage, they are also part of the overall trade agreement reached between Japan and the United States. The agreement stipulates that Japan promises to invest a total of US$550 billion in the United States. In return, Japan hopes that the United States can reduce or even eliminate some tariffs on Japanese goods.

Cook and other guests at the event also enjoyed a sumptuous meal, with a menu including black tiger shrimp with cocktail sauce, fresh crab and wagyu beef.
