"Assemble!" "Animal Crossing" will receive a major upgrade on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform in January 2026. The new version will support TV 4K picture quality, add mouse operation functions, and make full use of the Switch 2 console’s built-in microphone to launch an in-game loudspeaker.

It is reported that the new game is priced at US$64.99, and users who already own the first-generation Switch version can unlock new features through a US$4.99 upgrade package. After the upgrade, players can use the mouse function of the right Joy-Con 2 to decorate their homes, customize designs and leave messages on bulletin boards, while the loudspeaker uses the host microphone to call and locate island residents. In addition, the game also supports up to 12 people online at the same time and allows interaction through the camera.
On January 15, 2026, all Switch and Switch 2 players will receive a free content update, including a new resort hotel run by the Cormorant family, and a "reset service" run by Mr. Mole Resetti (Resetti) to help clean up and manage the island.
The game also adds home storage expansion options, which can store up to 9,000 items and also supports the storage of trees, shrubs and flowers. Players can also collect various Nintendo-themed items in the game. Switch Online subscribers will unlock the new ability to design and save three islands, collaborate with friends to build islands, and play select content while interacting with their Nintendo console.
