The well-known technology company Perplexity recently released an AI-driven patent search tool designed to simplify the patent search process. Different from the traditional search method that relies on keywords, users can now directly ask questions in natural language, and the system can search for relevant patents.
For example, users can enter "Are there any relevant patents on AI language learning?" or "Major patents on quantum computing since 2024", and Perplexity can automatically filter and return relevant patents and provide an AI-generated summary of each patent.

According to reports, this tool not only supports keyword expanded retrieval, but also identifies variant vocabulary in related fields. For example, when searching for "fitness tracker", the system will also display related patents such as "sports bracelets", "step counting watches" and "health monitoring watches". In addition, the tool also supports searching academic papers, open source software code libraries and other content to find prior technical basis.
Currently, the Perplexity patent search tool is in the public beta stage and all users can try it for free. Pro and Max premium subscribers can enjoy higher usage limits and more customization options. Users can directly enter patent questions on the Perplexity platform to try.
