Musk says Tesla's AI5 chip won't be mass-produced until 2027, and AI6 won't be in mass production until 2028

Musk clarified a post posted by a netizen on the social platform Musk wrote: “TSMC and Samsung will produce slightly different versions of Tesla’s AI5 chip because of how they translate the design into physical form, but the goal is that our AI software will be equally effective.

We will have samples in 2026 and possibly small quantities, but mass production will only be possible in 2027.

AI6 will use the same fab but achieve approximately 2x the performance. The goal is to quickly follow up AI5, so AI6 is expected to be mass produced in mid-2028.

AI7 will require a different fab because it's more adventurous. "
