On November 5, Pony.ai officially announced that its seventh-generation Robotaxi will be officially put into operation in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places starting from November. Users can call a vehicle through the "Pony.ai" App or mini program to experience the new generation of autonomous driving travel services.

It is reported that the model is based on two models, the JiFox Alpha T5 and the Ian Tyrannosaurus Rex. It uses 100% automotive-grade parts and has a design life of 600,000 kilometers. Official data shows that the total cost of its autonomous driving kit has dropped by 70% compared with the previous generation, and it claims to be the world's first Robotaxi to achieve L4 full-scenario autonomous driving based on car-grade SoC chips.

In terms of sensor configuration, the new car is equipped with 34 sensors, including 9 lidars, 14 cameras and 4 millimeter-wave radars. The detection range covers 360-degree blind spots and a distance of up to 650 meters. The vehicle has completed more than 3.5 million kilometers of public road testing and passed vehicle regulatory verifications such as electromagnetic compatibility, high and low temperature, and durability.

In terms of user experience, the seventh-generation Robotaxi supports functions such as automatic door opening through mobile phone Bluetooth sensing, customization of front LED welcome lights, and voice-activated journeys. The passenger seat is open to passengers for the first time, improving space utilization in the car. Through the self-developed world model and virtual driver technology, the system can optimize acceleration and deceleration control, aiming to reduce the dizziness of passengers.
