Mainstream support for Windows 10 ended on October 14. Although users can continue to receive support by signing up for the ESU Extended Security Update Service, Microsoft is apparently increasing its efforts to urge users to switch to the latest Windows 11.Microsoft has begun to remind Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11 through full-screen pop-ups and Windows Update.

When starting Windows 10, the system will display a new full-screen pop-up window. On the right side of the pop-up window is the halo wallpaper of Windows 11. The title reads "Upgrade your PC for free" and warns that Windows 10 support has ended on October 14, 2025.

The pop-up message reads: "To keep your device secure, improve performance, and get new features, please upgrade to Windows 11 now." If the user selects "Upgrade now," the system will directly start downloading the Windows 11 25H2 update.

If the device supports upgrades, Microsoft will strongly recommend users to upgrade to Windows 11; if the device does not meet the hardware requirements of Windows 11, Microsoft's recommendation is to purchase a new PC, preferably a Copilot+ PC with AI capabilities.

Another point is that although users can register for ESU for free to continue to receive Windows 10 security updates, these full-screen pop-ups and Windows Update do not mention this.
