Today, the 8th China International Import Expo officially opens. According to media reports, Volkswagen announced at the CIIE thatCoreCheng, a joint venture established by its software company CARIAD and Horizon, will independently design and develop system-on-chip (SoC) in China.

The chip is expected to be mass-produced and delivered in the next three to five years, with a single chip having a computing power of 500 to 700TOPS.It will significantly improve the intelligent driving system's comprehensive capabilities in real-time decision-making, safety redundancy and stable operation during high-frequency use.
CARIAD China CEO Han Sanchu said that the self-developed chip is a strategic investment with an amount of approximately US$200 million.
According to Horizon, CoreCheng’s first advanced driving assistance system solution will be officially put into mass production in 2025.This brings to a successful conclusion the "first phase" of the independent research and development cooperation on intelligent driving in China between the two parties.
With the release of the self-developed system-level computing solution, the "second phase" of the cooperation has officially begun. Horizon will further empower the Volkswagen Group to strengthen its local full-stack intelligent driving R&D capabilities and promote the large-scale mass production and commercial implementation of high-performance, safe and reliable integrated intelligent driving solutions.
Obermau, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group, said, "As a global technology-driven company, Volkswagen Group continues to lay a solid foundation for innovation in key future technology fields. The Chinese market plays a vital role in this process.
