Musk hinted at Tesla's shareholder meeting on Thursday that his commercial space flight company SpaceX may go public at some point in the future. Musk hinted at the possibility of allowing Tesla backers to invest in SpaceX stock. "I want to try to find some way to get Tesla shareholders involved in SpaceX," he said.

"I do want backers to own SpaceX stock," Musk said. However, he outlined a "2,500 shareholder threshold" required for listed companies. "Maybe at some point, SpaceX should become a public company," he said, despite the many "disadvantages" of going public.

This comes after SpaceX recently shared an update detailing an accelerated timeline for its lunar mission roadmap. The company touted the Starship rocket as a key element of NASA's Artemis mission. Musk also said that the spacecraft is designed to carry "100 people."

At the same time, Musk’s close ally Jared Isaacman, CEO of Shift4 Payments, was once again nominated by US President Trump to be the administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
