Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a statement on November 7 (local time), announcing that he had filed a lawsuit against the online gaming platform Roblox, accusing the company of deceptive behavior regarding child safety, saying it "put alleged virtual pedophiles and profits before child safety."
Paxton said in the statement that Roblox is becoming a "breeding ground for predators" and that the platform does not fully disclose its potential dangers to parents, stressing: "We cannot allow platforms like Roblox to continue to exist as a digital playground for predators. Roblox must do more to protect children from those with twisted minds hiding behind their screens. Any company that promotes child abuse will face the full punishment of the law."

The lawsuit follows several cases filed against Roblox by the attorneys general of Louisiana and Kentucky, as well as California, Texas and Pennsylvania. Many media and authoritative organizations have also criticized Roblox for failing to implement adequate child safety measures, resulting in minors on the platform being exposed to risks of seduction, explicit content, and violence or abuse.
In view of such cases and related investigations, many governments around the world have introduced more stringent age verification regulations for social platform users, such as the UK's Online Safety Act and the Mississippi Age Verification Act. In addition, Arizona, Wyoming, South Dakota and Virginia are also pushing for relevant legislation.
Faced with continued pressure, Roblox has launched a series of safety measures in recent years, including facial recognition age estimation, standardized content and rating labels, AI systems to identify child risks in advance, enhanced youth protection, content control, and communication and restriction tools for parents, as well as violation detection technology. According to statistics, as of September 30, 2025, Roblox had 151.5 million daily active users.
Roblox did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the Texas Attorney General's latest lawsuit.
