Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft's classic desktop publishing software with a history of 35 years, is about to retire from the stage of history.Microsoft has officially announced through the official support page that the software will stop all support services in October 2026. At that time, Publisher will no longer be included in the Microsoft 365 service, and users will not be able to enable related functions.

Microsoft Publisher debuted in 1991 and later became part of Office 97. It is mainly used to create publishing materials such as greeting cards, e-newsletters, brochures, and marketing materials.

The main reason for eliminating Publisher this time is functional redundancy. As the functions of other Microsoft 365 software continue to evolve, most of Publisher's usage scenarios can already be replaced.

Tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Designer, and Microsoft Create can now replace the functions of Microsoft Publisher.

For users who are still using Publisher, Microsoft strongly recommends taking action as soon as possible to convert all Publisher files to common formats such as PDF or Word through the "Save As" function for storage and backup.
