Today, Valve unveiled a new game console, Steam Machine, which is officially claimed to be 6 times more powerful than the SteamDeck handheld console. It is confirmed to be released in early 2026. Although the price has not yet been announced, Valve said that Steam Machine will provide a very competitive price and excellent cost performance. Its core principle is to "keep the device as close to the people as possible and make it affordable to as many people as possible."
After the Steam Machine was released, foreign media PC Gamer revealed the internal structure of this new game console through a series of pictures.
Main specifications:
CPU: AMD Zen4 architecture 6 cores 12 threads, maximum core frequency 4.8GHz
Memory: 16GB
GPU: Semi-customized AMD RDNA 3 chip, 28 computing units, main frequency 2.45 GHz, TDP 110W, 8GB video memory
Storage: 512GB/2TB versions

Talking about the cube-shaped design of the console, Valve engineer Jeff Mucha said that this design was originally based on considerations of heat dissipation efficiency, acoustic optimization, and adaptability to six-inch-high storage shelves.
The Steam Machine is smaller than it looks from the outside, but the internal components take advantage of every inch of space. In the demonstration, engineer Aldehayyat removed the outer shell to show the internal structure:
·The power supply is located at the bottom, and I/O interfaces are arranged on the front and rear sides.
·The power supply case acts as the system chassis, reducing the use of brackets and modules, simplifying the design, and facilitating RF shielding, because the motherboard and other electronic components are sandwiched between two layers of metal shells, eliminating the need for additional components.
·The motherboard is located above the power supply and is only visible from below the heat sink. The radiator covers the CPU, GPU, memory and power supply system, and is not small in size.
·The only fan is a 120mm fan on the rear, responsible for cooling the entire system.

The Steam Machine is equipped with four antennas, two on the rear: responsible for Wi-Fi 6E connections, and two on the front: one for Bluetooth, and the other for connecting up to four Steam Controllers.
The console also comes with removable panels: mainly for dust removal, but Valve is also considering offering customization options in the future. Front light strip: The color can be customized and can also be used as a status indicator, such as showing game download progress, message reminders, etc. Can be turned off and completely hidden when turned off.

In terms of storage, the NVMe slot is located at the bottom of the fuselage, with options of 512GB or 2TB, using 2230 size SSD. It also supports standard 2280 size SSD, and the existing 2230 SSD needs to be removed. The memory can be replaced, but the replacement process is more complicated than SSD and requires removal of the casing and heat sink.
Steam Machine will be sold in the same regions as Steam Deck, including: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
