Documents in the Federal Register show that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a new airworthiness directive for all Boeing MD-11 and MD-11F aircraft. According to the document, the directive stemmed from a crash in which the left engine and pylon of a plane fell off during takeoff.

The directive requires that the relevant aircraft types must not continue flying until inspections are completed and all necessary corrective actions are implemented in accordance with FAA-approved methods.

Note: The FAA has grounded all MD-11 aircraft based on safety concerns about engines and wing structural components.
