Mac Pro, which was once highly sought after and had the most powerful positioning, has experienced sluggish performance in the market in recent years and has been overtaken by Mac Studio. The latest news shows that Apple seems to be gradually abandoning this product line. Although there are recent rumors that a new Mac Pro may be released in 2025, Bloomberg reports that Apple has basically terminated its update plan for this model.

Whether it is the end of 2025 or 2026, there will be no new version of Mac Pro. Part of the reason is that Apple has canceled the M4 Ultra processor originally planned to be used in the new Mac Pro, and the model plan has been shelved.

Apple is expected to still launch M5 Ultra as a high-end desktop processor in the future, but it is said that it has no intention of using it for Mac Pro, and instead regards Mac Studio as a top-end model. Industry analysts pointed out that this change is not surprising. Since the launch of Apple Silicon processors in 2020, the performance of the Mac series (including Mac Studio and Mac mini) has been greatly improved, and even some basic models are comparable to the high-end Mac Pro.

Since the launch of Mac Studio in 2022, Apple's product line structure has changed. By 2023, Mac Studio has become the first choice for most users, and only a handful of users with special needs for scalability and budget will consider Mac Pro. In addition, Mac Pro, as the last model to be migrated to Apple Silicon, has hardly been upgraded in recent years.

If Apple finally abandons the Mac Pro completely, it will be a sad ending for a once brilliant product line.
