Apple announced today that it has expanded its self-service repair program to the iPhone 15 series and Mac models using M2 chips, including 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro, 15-inch MacBook Air, Macmini, MacPro and MacStudio.
Apple also said that the self-service repair service is now available to Apple users in 24 additional European countries, including Croatia, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland. With this latest expansion, the self-service repair service now supports 35 Apple products in 33 countries and 24 languages.
Additionally, Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair is available today in the United States for iPhone and Mac, and will be available in Europe next year. AppleDiagnostics troubleshooting sessions are intended for users with knowledge and expertise in repairing Apple devices, providing customers with the same ability as Apple Authorized Service Providers and independent repair providers to test the device for optimal component function and performance and determine which parts may require repair.
Launched in 2022, the Self-Repair program is designed to allow users of Apple devices to repair themselves at home using Apple parts, repair manuals and tools.
To perform repairs, users first need to check their product's repair manual and specific repair content on Apple's support website. They can then order the required parts and tools from the do-it-yourself repair shop and begin repairs.
The program is part of Apple's efforts to "further expand repair coverage," according to the company. Nonetheless, Apple reminds the "vast majority" of users that they should still visit professional repair providers such as Apple stores to ensure their devices are repaired safely and reliably.
