Previously, Udo Kier was announced to star in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming horror game OD. Hideo Kojima also posted a tribute on social media, calling him "a true symbol of that era" and recalling Udo Kiel's unique "Udo-style humor" that always made him laugh.

Hideo Kojima said: "It's hard for me to express in words, everything happened so suddenly. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the filming of "OD" was interrupted and postponed until next year. Even so, I kept in touch with Udo through emails during this period. We communicated very closely. When we met in Milan at the end of September, he also said that he was very much looking forward to restarting filming next year. He was still full of energy and kept making me laugh with his typical 'Udo humor.' I still can't believe it until now."

Hideo Kojima continued to write: "Udo was not only an actor, he was a true 'symbol' of his time. We have lost a great 'symbol'. There will never be a second Udo. May he rest in peace, I will never forget him."
