A "most stringent" power bank safety standard in history has entered the countdown to implementation. The original 3C certification regulations will be completely invalid, and nearly 70% of the existing production capacity will be eliminated.According to Blue Whale, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has organized multiple seminars on the "Mobile Power Supply Safety Technical Specifications" for comments in October and November.
Compared with the old standards, the new national standards put forward dozens of stringent improvements in the three major technical fields of complete machines, circuit boards and batteries.
An official from a participating company said,At present, the standard has been basically finalized and is expected to be announced in December, officially released in February 2026, and implemented in June of the same year. After the new regulations are implemented, the original 3C certification regulations will be completely invalid.
After the implementation of the new regulations, it is expected that nearly 70% of the existing production capacity will be forced to withdraw from the mobile power market because they cannot meet the technical requirements of the new standards.
It is reported that the standards set this time are very strict and difficult for many factories to meet, and the attitude of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is very clear:If you can't meet the standards, don't continue production, because there are always some companies that can meet the standards.
Previously, many well-known brands of power banks announced large-scale recalls, once again causing consumers to worry about the safety of charging products.
At the beginning of this month,Bruce Lee, CTO of Huawei Terminal BG, said in an interview that Huawei’s power banks have never been recalled in history.
"Huawei's experience, innovation and quality requirements for accessories such as power banks and chargers are no lower than those for mobile phones. You can buy and use Huawei accessories with confidence," he said.
Bruce Lee revealed that the safety of Huawei’s charging products has the highest priority. For example, Huawei's 100W 12000mAh all-in-one power bank P0020 comes with a cord. This power bank has a 13-level safety protection design, including charging over-temperature protection, discharge over-temperature protection, output short-circuit protection, battery short-circuit protection, etc. It realizes millisecond-level voltage, current and temperature detection. Even the built-in cable on the power bank is temperature protected, which is the first time in the industry.
In addition, Huawei's power bank also uses the battery cells used in flagship mobile phones, making it truly as safe as a mobile phone.
