The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) recently announced that Foxconn will invest $569 million over the next four years to expand its manufacturing base in Mount Pleasant, Racine County, and create more than 1,300 jobs, covering factory and office employees. The company said the expansion is aimed at responding to growing market demand for "data infrastructure" and that the site currently produces artificial intelligence servers.

"Wisconsin accounts for nearly a quarter of our U.S. workforce, and this second phase of the project will double the company's workforce in the state by the end of this decade," Jerry Hsiao, Foxconn's chief product officer, said in a statement.
According to the latest revised cooperation agreement between Foxconn and the state government, the company can receive up to $96 million in state tax credits by 2029. WEDC Deputy Secretary Sam Rikkers said that WEDC is always committed to promoting the success and growth of Foxconn in the state. This amendment to the agreement reflects Foxconn's status as one of many leading global manufacturers that has chosen to develop in Wisconsin.
Data released by WEDC shows that as of the end of 2024, Foxconn has invested more than US$700 million in Mount Pleasant and created more than 1,200 jobs. Still, that number is a fraction of the 13,000 workers the company promised eight years ago when it announced it would open a plant in Wisconsin. Initially, Foxconn planned to invest US$10 billion to produce large flat-panel displays. However, in 2021, given that the original plan could not be realized, the agreement was adjusted from the original subsidy scale of US$4 billion to US$80 million.
WEDC stated that by 2029, Foxconn will have created more than 2,600 jobs in Wisconsin, with a total capital investment of US$1.2 billion.
In addition, most of the land originally purchased by Foxconn has been developed by Microsoft into a data center park. Mount Pleasant Village Mayor Dave DeGroot issued a statement saying that the village was unable to comment on Foxconn’s specific plans at the moment, but looked forward to continuing to cooperate with the company. "We are very excited about Foxconn's plans to create more jobs and expand its 21st century manufacturing operations," he said.
